@bea @dzuk actually they say that programming is magic, it's not exclusive to lisp. SICP in part was about making computer science more accessible (and tbh, today SICP is not relatively accessible and that's a good thing, because it means things have gotten better). The wizard theme there is sort of a dog-whistle (I think it's a mistake to just think it's a joke) to say that the current state of computer science is in a bad way (it's not even an advocacy for lisp, even though it has appropriated that way) and I don't think this is the same issue @dzuk is talking about. If I call myself a sourcerer, I'm referring to SICP, I want to be able to express a problem easily and not just express a problem 'easily' because I have spent 5 years learning how to express a problem in a confined and restricted way.
